Ministry Spotlight
Christian Education Ministry
2 Timothy 2:15
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
The teaching and training role of the Christian Education Ministry utilizes the following programs to develop disciples and build strong Christians:
1. The Sunday School Department, under the leadership of the Superintendent, presents graded classes for children and youth, as well as a variety of classes for adults each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m.
2. Training Coordinator, under the leadership of the Christian Education Director, plans and coordinates training workshops and programs for the spiritual growth and development of Ministry leaders and the congregation at large.
3. Vacation Bible School is presented annually, following the close of the Greater Dayton/Jefferson Township academic school year. This 1-2 week concentrated study period is designed to engage the entire church family. Age appropriate programs and activities are available on the church campus at no cost. Leadership of VBS is appointed annually.
4. The Scholarship Committee, in cooperation with the Youth Ministry, plans and coordinates career exploration programs, financial planning and financial aid seminars, and family advisory sessions for all high school students. This Committee will also maintain on-going contact with our college students and trade/technical school student members while they study outside the Dayton area.
5. Mt. Carmel's church-wide Bible Study, "Wednesdays in the Word", is designed to provide opportunities for our children, youth, and adults to examine and explore the teachings of Christ for their practical application to our lives. Bible Study classes are small groups, each dedicated to 12 week, in-depth study of the scriptures. Classes are available on Wednesday mornings at 11:00 a.m. as well as Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
6. The New Member's Ministry is dedicated to assisting new members of all ages in the following areas: *Establishing a firm faith foundation through a 12 week New Members Orientation Program. *Introducing new members to a Sunday School class.
*Introducing new members to Bible Study and Prayer Meeting.
*Familiarizing new members with the Ministries of the Church.
*Assisting new members in becoming assimilated into their new church family.
